Yes, the game is really free...

There seems to be some confusion around what I meant when I said the game is free. I put the game on sale at 100% off which means anyone can get the game completely free. I also put community copies up because I put community copies up for every game I make so folks who for whatever reason cannot afford the game right now can have a copy. I assumed that since the game is free that the community copies would be left untouched until after the sale ends. Not even 24 hours later and I notice there were 5 communities left so I'm going to assume there's been a misunderstanding about what's going on.

The game is free until the end of One-Page RPG Jam 2022. You can claim it as if you are buying it except no money is paid to me. Yes, it'll make you go through the checkout process like you were going to buy it, but since it's on sale at 100% off that means you can go through the motions and it won't charge you anything.

I understand how that might be confusing or even a little worrying when you try to claim a free copy with the "Download or claim" button and it pops up with the checkout window. Capitalism teaches us to be skeptical of free things that aren't gifts during an appropriate occasion for such. Rest assured that it is in fact free and the only reason you go through the checkout process is because that's how it ties it to your account.

I've removed the remaining community copies for now and I'll add more after the sale is over.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to leave a comment on this post or send me a message on Twitter @therablasgames.

If it makes you feel better, I had people claiming community copies of my game when it was on sale 100% off as well.  This is either some kind of weird effect of the UI, or just people being skeptical. Who can say.  But it's definitely not your fault for being unclear. Glad to see this post though, because it confirms some of the strangeness I've seen. :)
